About Us and Packages

Moonlight Entertainment CQ have been operating in Central Queensland since 2019.

Since starting our tenure in the CQ region we have enjoyed playing music for many Weddings, Birthday Parties, Christmas Parties, Cocktail Parties, Convention Dinners, Corporate Picnics, and School Dances.

From our Gladstone based address we have played for events ranging from Bundaberg in the south, to Rockhampton and Yeppoon in the north, to Moura and Biloela in the west. We can and do travel further, but travel and accommodation charges would need to be discussed.

Dave Mills

Dave has been a DJ for many decades, his first professional gig being back in 1983 at the Opus One nightclub in Townsville. Since then he has DJ'd in Brisbane and Sydney. He has also owned his own online radio station where he met his wife Natasha. Music and MCing is in Dave's blood. He loves his craft and continues to widen his music experiences. As well as handling the majority of the DJing and MCing, Dave also takes care of the technical side of the DJing and lighting rigs.

Natasha Mills

Natasha looks after the paperwork and music sourcing side of the business. She also enjoys DJing while Dave is on the microphone doing the MC thing.
Natasha introduced Dave to country music and her influence shows. Her music tastes are as wide and varied as Dave's and she is equally as happy playing 80's or modern trance and house as she is playing good ol' country.

Requests!

Your guests can now make requests using their smartphones via QR codes placed on the tables: It depends on our ability to connect to high speed internet. We cannot use streaming sites like YouTube or Spotify; Music from Spotify or YouTube is streamed at a very low bit rate, and while it may sound fine through headphones on your phone, it often sounds distorted, muffled or badly produced on a professional sound system.

We  subscribe to international record pools where we have access to literally millions of songs that we can download and stream high quality audio from. We are limited to the catalogue that these sites carry, and the quality and speed of the internet.

FAQ

10 reasons:

  1. Less time spent organising stuff, asking for favours and following up with people.
  2. Professional experience giving you piece of mind
  3. Great sound quality.
  4. Huge library of music for song requests.
  5. Reliability.
  6. Better vibes.
  7. Less stress.
  8. Technical expertise.
  9. You’ll be able to hear the speeches (wireless mic).
  10. Our DJs are also experienced at picking the best songs to keep the dance floor pumping.

A wedding DJ can make or break your reception or event. Good and experienced wedding DJ’s are constantly watching the crowd to see heads nodding and feet tapping as well as all of the dance floor action.
The wedding DJ keeps the reception flowing, reacting to special moments and events throughout the reception.

Some people just want to book a wedding DJ from the first dance, but it is usually best to book your DJ for the entire wedding reception. Most venues don’t have sufficient in-house speakers for the key moments of your reception. A professional DJ will have music for your bridal party entrance, wireless microphones for your MC, and speeches, as well as music for things like meals, cocktails and cake cutting; letting you rest easy and allowing your guests to get the full experience of your event.

Hope this helps!

Pretty much anything that you desire!

A typical event may include slower and quieter dinner music, Fun music for special dances and events, then everything from the 50’s to the 80’s and 90’s to NOW now spanning most genres including country, rock, pop and RnB.

Yes, and No
It depends on our ability to connect to high speed internet.

Music from Spotify or YouTube is streamed at a very low bit rate, and while it may sound fine through headphones on your phone, it often sounds distorted, muffled or badly produced on a professional sound system.

We now are able to take requests via your smart phone again depending upon the internet quality.

We also subscribe to international record pools where we have access to millions of songs that we can download and stream high quality audio from. We are limited to the catalogue that these sites carry, and the quality and speed of the internet.

Absolutely! We are happy to take requests from your guests as we do carry an extensive collection of party music with us at all times.

Do bear in mind that music requests are just that, requests. We can not guarantee that a requested song will be played at that exact moment, rather the request will be fit into the flow of the music set if and when possible.

We will also only take requests in genres and guidleines that the event hosts have stipulated. For example:
If Eagle Rock by Daddy Cool is on your ‘Do Not Play’ list and it is requested by a guest, we will not play it.
If you have asked for no country music (or other genres/songs) to be played, we will not accept requests for those without consultation with you the hosts.

Another note: At pretty much every wedding reception, someone will come up to us and say “The bride wants to hear <insert song name> right now! You gotta play it now” … We never believe this.. If the host of the party be that the bride, groom or birthday person wants a song –  they can have it right then –  but they are the ones that must ask for it!

To a degree yes;

We do not discount for shorter events on Fridays or Saturdays. These days are premium event days and even a two hour event takes all of our resources for the entire day.

We do sometimes offer lower rates for Monday to Thursday –  Talk to us about your needs!

Here’s a few reasons why this can be a bad idea:

  • Reliable audio equipment is expensive. Chances are that your blue tooth or home stereo speakers may not be suitable to supply enough volume to a group of more than 20+ people who want to dance and have a good time. The music can sound distorted and your equipment may fail if it is turned up too loud to compensate.
  • Your guests can be very likely to change songs every 20 seconds or so as they argue over what track to play next.
  • Bluetooth is not the most reliable streaming method as it can suffer from interruptions or guests over riding the stream connection .
  • No one has ever left a 5 star review on Facebook for a Spotify playlist and a bluetooth speaker.

If your budget is super tight, talk to your prospective DJ who may be able to give some advice or look at other options for you. Don’t let an event cause financial stress! It is not worth it.
